Wellbeing Support Service

Relationships Australia Tasmania and the North Hobart Football Club partnered in 2021 to trial a pilot Wellbeing Support Service for staff, players, coaches, volunteers, and immediate family.

The Wellbeing Support Service provides free and confidential access to short term counselling in relation to personal and club related issues. The North Hobart president said the partnership stems from a strong desire to provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment at the club.

…the program highlights that it is important for people to know that it’s ok to get help for the worries and concerns they may face, and in doing so they become great role models.

The success of this program will have flow-on effects for members of the North Hobart Football Club community, who can go back to their families, workplaces and other groups with skills and knowledge to further improve social connections and awareness of support services.

Sporting clubs play such a big a role in building strong and healthy communities. The pilot Wellbeing program is a great way to keep the community engaged, happy and motivated. Additionally, the program highlights that it is important for people to know that it’s ok to get help for the worries and concerns they may face, and in doing so they become great role models.

A second Wellbeing program has been established with the South Hobart Sandy Bay Sharks Cricket Club and will begin once the new season gets underway.
