DRUMbeat Program

Discovering Relationships Using Music, Beliefs, Emotions, Attitudes, and Thoughts (DRUMBEAT) is a free program designed for adults aged 18 and above who have experienced complex trauma or have been impacted by the Commission.

DRUMBEAT is a social and emotional learning program that incorporates hand drumming whilst focusing on social connection through teamwork. It has been proven to build resilience, demonstrating measurable changes in social behaviour. Each session of DRUMBEAT focuses on relationship themes such as identity, teamwork, communication, peer pressure, values, and managing emotions.

There have been several positive outcomes reported, with many participants stating they felt increased feelings of relaxation and safety. They also expressed being able to share self-reflections in a non-verbal way, experienced decreased social isolation, and felt secure while drumming.
