Two people who live and breathe the RA Tas values are Karen and Pooja, RA Tas’ Human Resource (HR) Advisors. The duo plays a central part in ensuring RA Tas is a workplace where all staff are valued and engaged in their work. Both work alongside the People and Culture Team to create a culture where all staff are supported to achieve their goals.
For Pooja, the decision to join RA Tas was a natural one, “I’ve always had this drive to work for a not-for-profit…when you’re working for an organisation such as RA, it’s so easy to connect with the organisation and their mission… something that’s really important to me in a workplace.”
As part of The People and Culture Team, Pooja and Karen strive to make sure RA Tas is a great place to work. For Karen, the work she carries out at RA Tas embodies the elements of HR that she loves the most, “RA’s values align with the whole reason I wanted to get into HR in the first place…RA Tas helps and supports people, something that is at the heart of what we do as HR Advisors…we support people.”
When asked where they source their drive and inspiration from, the pair attributes their motivation to the support they receive from their colleagues in the People and Culture Team.
A core value for RA Tas is for all staff to work as part of a collective effort. “When clients seek support from RA Tas, often it is from more than one of our services” says Pooja, “many also tap into a diverse network of services beyond ours, relying on a wide and varied network of support…at RA Tas we work in a similar way.”
It’s a common practice – and one that is encouraged – for staff and teams to support each other and work together, collaborating across the organisation to form a collective effort. Pooja explains how it is critical to foster these positive and respectful working relationships, as this ensures that collectively, staff can achieve their goals, “counsellors are at the forefront of the services we provide but we in HR are supporting them, in the backend, so that makes me really satisfied…we are supporting our people so that they can support our clients.”
This is a job made easier by the friendship and support each find in one another, “Karen is a wonderful listener…I really find a friend in her when I come to work” says Pooja. “Pooja, she’s a go-getter…very productive and patient, she is a great person to work with” adds Karen.
When asked where they source their drive and inspiration from, the pair attributes their motivation to the support they receive from their colleagues in the People and Culture Team, “we’ve got a wonderful team…really supportive“, says Karen, “yes, and a wonderful leader… It is from our people that I get my drive and motivation” agrees Pooja, “our people are what matters most“.
